MIDWAY AIRPORT TSA BRIDGE EXPANSION
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has retained Muller+Muller, Ltd. to develop design documents for an expanded and relocated Passenger Security Checkpoint for the Midway International Airport. The 80,000 square foot expansion is centered over Cicero Avenue, and connects the Airside Terminal Building to the Landside Terminal Building. This expansion will improve circulation and reduce waiting times during peak periods. The centrally located checkpoint will accommodate up to 26 full-equipped security lanes, and includes an expanded queue space. This project creates an opportunity to strengthen the identity of Midway Airport, while simultaneously respecting the character of the existing airport architecture. The Checkpoint creates a natural gateway for passengers departing on their journeys or for visitors arriving to Chicago.
